Ontario Craft Beer 25: Oast House Biere de Mars
Beer
#25: The Oast House Biere de Mars (5.5% alc.), named for its March brew
month (in French), really pops with lemon sourness due to an extra sour
mash ferment. I used to eat bowls of lemon wedges when I was a kid, so I
just could not stay away from this beer. One gulp led to another. Available from the brewery in
Niagara-on-the-Lake in 750mL corked bottles. It's best aged for a year
but I couldn't wait -- this one was only a month old. Beautiful cloudy
orange on the pour. I liked this one more and more as I drank it, and even the sometimes flavour-phobic Dianne deemed it "pretty good, actually."
