Ontario Craft Beer 174: Bush Pilot Pengo Pally
Beer
#174: Bush Pilot Pengo Pally (6.5%) – another treat from this month's
Brew Box, this golden blonde has coriander and tea leaves on the nose
and a great combo of flavours, including hay, mango, pineapple and white
pepper. It incorporates wild northern herbs hand-picked in Nunavik. The
brewery, north of Bancroft, released this one in cooperation with
Nickel Brook in Burlington, so this is truly a great Canadian beer with
aspects from different parts of Ontario and Nunavut. Pengo Pally means "I
miss you" in Inuktitut, a message that was inscribed on the side of
legendary Inuk bush pilot Johnny May's plane. Love it when Ontario craft
beers pay homage to Canadian history. And I love it even more when the
beers are great, too – and that's certainly the case here.
